Structure 307, masonry surface structure
About this Structure
Block 300, west of spring; borders east-northeast end of plaza.
Eastern edge of excavated portion of Block 300; north of Structure 308, east of kiva (Structure 306) and corner room (Structure 312). Overlies Nonstructure 314.
Little evidence of use of this structure. No artifacts can be assigned definitely to either floor surface. No floor features were defined on either of the floors (both of which were irregular) and there is no evidence of a doorway, so a hatchway entry is inferred. The absence of floor features suggests that the room was used for storage. This structure is adjacent to Structure 306 (kiva) and could have been part of Kiva Suite 306.
No roof fall and few artifacts were found in the room, which might indicate that this room, like Structure 306 (kiva) adjacent to the west, was subjected to scavenging and dismantling after it was abandoned (and that habitation of the village continued).
The upper walls collapsed into the structure and sediment was deposited naturally.
