Structure 1211, masonry surface structure
About this Structure
Block 1200, southeast quadrant of site, on cliff edge.
North end of excavated portion of Block 1200, between Structures 1204 and 1205; below Arbitrary Unit 1216.
A pit feature was associated with the floor of this room, and a niche was located in the west wall. The uses of these features are unknown. No artifacts were documented as resting on the floor. Access is inferred to have been through a hatchway, as no doorway was observed in the extant portions of the walls. The tiny size of this room leads to the inference that it was used for storage. However, it appears to be associated with a kiva to the north, and so was probably not part of the 1206 kiva suite.
The absence of floor-associated artifacts suggests that the abandonment of this room was leisurely.
The room filled with structural collapse and with intentionally deposited construction material.
