Structure Use

Structure 402 is similar to other kivas occupied during the Late Pueblo III period and was most likely used in a combination of domestic and ritual activities. The presence of a hearth (Features 1) indicates a domestic use of the structure and would have been used for light, heat, and food preparation.

Structure 402 was intentionally set on fire at abandonment. The burned roof collapsed on to the structure floor and was covered by natural wind and water sediments over time.

Natural wind and water sediments accumulated above the burned roof sediments.
