Structure Use

Structure 113 is similar to other kivas occupied during the Pueblo III period and was most likely used in a combination of domestic and ritual activities. The presence of a hearth (Features 1) indicates a domestic use of the structure and would have been used for light, heat, and food preparation. The presence of sherds on the floor and bench surfaces also indicates a domestic use of the structure.

Structure 113 fell out of use during the Pueblo III period. It appears that the primary beams were removed from the roof and the remaining construction sediments and secondary beams were collapsed directly on to the structure floor.

Natural wind and water sediments accumulated over the collapsed roof sediments.
