Structure 1104, subterranean kiva
About this Structure
Southeast portion of site.
Northwest portion of Architectural Block 1100; 472.8N 587.3E.
Structure 904 is similar to other kivas occupied during the Early Pueblo III period and was most likely used in a combination of domestic and ritual activities. The presence of a deflector (Feature 2) suggests a hearth was present and indicates a domestic use of the structure and would have been used for light, heat, and food preparation.
Wood was recycled from the roof of Structure 1104 prior to abandonment. Human Remains Occurrence 8 was interred in the roof sediment of Structure 1104 after the structure was collapsed.
Natural wind and water sediments covered Structure 1104.
