Structure 22-S, masonry surface structure

About this Structure

General Location

Northeast corner of pueblo. Part of rim complex; located at base of cliff.

Specific Location

Room is in a natural shelter in the cliff face; west of Structure 23-S and north of Structure 13-S.

Interpretive Type

Living room.

Structure Use

Narrow, long room in a natural shelter; sooting observed in a crevice at the top of the shelter, on a masonry feature (Feature 2), and on a portion of the east wall, indicates the likely presence of a thermal feature; if this is the case, this was a living room; doorway in south wall led to and from the kiva roof/courtyard (Structure 13-S); there is no evidence of a doorway on the east side of the room, however, the wall is not well preserved.

Abandonment

No evidence.

Postabandonment

Visible walls have partly collapsed.

Excavation Details

No excavations took place inside this structure.
