Nonstructure 1.9-N, midden
About this Nonstructure
Lower west side; base of talus slope near canyon bottom.
Upper fill of Segment 5 (EU 36), below Nonstructures 1.1-N and 1.8-N and above Nonstructures 1.7-N. Nonstructure 1.10-N rests near the base of this deposit.
Part of Nonstructure 1-N testing; see Nonstructure 1-N and associated EU for description and explanation of testing strategy.
Midden deposit that originated from the structures east and north of Segment 5; intepretation based on close proximity of the structures to this study unit.
Dating of Midden
Pottery data suggest refuse was discarded during Pueblo III times. Based on stratigraphic position, most of the refuse accumulated after a kiva retaining wall was built (Nonstructure 1.10-N) but before an extramural wall was constructed (Nonstructure 1.8-N).
