Nonstructure 506, extramural surface
About this Nonstructure
Central part of the site.
Just north of the roomblock in Architectural Block 500.
Encountered during excavations to expose the outside face of the north wall of the roomblock.
Outdoor use surface associated with the earliest occupation in this area, prior to the construction of the Architectural Block 500 roomblock.
Surface no longer used after sediment was deposited on top of it.
Covered first by sediment, then by the use surface associated with Structure 508, and then by subsequent deposits (see stratigraphic profile description).
Dating of Construction
Surface was not constructed.
Dating of Abandonment
Surface was abandoned an unknown length of time after A.D. 1100; this inference is based on the association of Pueblo III White Painted and Mesa Verde Corrugated pottery with this surface.
