Nonstructure 3.4-N, extramural surface

About this Nonstructure

General Location

Upper west side. South of cliff face on steep talus slope and south of a cluster of buildings.

Specific Location

Immediately south of Structure 7 (a tested kiva). In upper third of 1-x-1-m 405N 403E (EU 12) and in upper portion of Nonstructure 3.5-N.

Selection Criteria

Part of Nonstructure 3-N testing; see Nonstructure 3-N and associated EU for description and explanation of testing strategy.

Ephemeral surface partly on fill and partly on a boulder; surface is associated with the construction of a wall (Feature 2); wall was most likely part of the southern recess of Structure 7-S.

Probably abandoned as part of the abandonment of this part of the site.

Postabandonment Process

Not applicable.

Dating of Construction

Not constructed. Because the wall built on this surface is interpreted as part of the southern recess of Structure 7-S, and the kiva is believed to have been constructed in A.D. 1257, this surface is also believed to date from A.D. 1257.

Dating of Remodeling

Not applicable.

Dating of Abandonment

Probably abandoned at the same time this part of the site was abandoned.

Dating of Midden

Not applicable.

Dating of Reuse

No evidence of reuse.
