Nonstructure 2.3-N, extramural surface
About this Nonstructure
Northeast quadrant of site. Within rim complex on canyon rim.
Adjacent to and north of Structure 17 (a D-shaped building); below Nonstructures 2.1-N and 2.2-N.
Part of Nonstructure 2-N testing; see Nonstructure 2-N and associated EU for description and explanation of testing strategy.
Outdoor natural surface associated with the construction of a curved wall; wall is part of a D-shaped building (Structure 17).
Covered by a later surface.
Dating of Construction
No tree-ring or pottery data. Based on stratigraphic position, this surface predates the construction of another extramural surface (Nonstructure 2.2-N).
Dating of Remodeling
Another surface (Nonstructure 2.2-N) was built on top of this surface, but there are no data to indicate when this later surface was constructed.
Dating of Abandonment
Abandoned before the rim complex was abandoned--a later surface rests above this surface.
Dating of Midden
Dating of Reuse
No evidence of reuse.

Excavation Details for Excavation Units
In order by excavation unit number.
1-x-1 meter grid unit 474N 522E.
Northeast corner of pueblo, rim complex.
North of and adjacent to Structure 17, a D-shaped building.
Random. First unit selected by random means from Nonstructure 2, Sampling Stratum 2.
Strata subdivided into arbitrary levels. After a wall was encountered in the middle of this unit, another 1-x-1-m unit (1-x-1-m 475N 522E) was opened to the north so that excavations could continue. The north unit was combined with this unit after the upper fill had been removed and excavated a
