Nonstructure 1.15-N, cultural deposit, type unknown
About this Nonstructure
Lower west side; base of talus slope near canyon bottom.
Lower fill of Segment 6 (EU 37); below Nonstructures 1.11-N, 1.12-N, 1.13-N, and 1.14-N.
Part of Nonstructure 1-N testing; see Nonstructure 1-N and associated EU for description and explanation of testing strategy.
This is interpreted as a cultural deposit because there is no clear evidence that it is a natural deposit; does not appear to be secondary refuse; some type of cultural deposit associated with the early use of the site.
Covered with refuse.
Dating of Construction
Not constructed. Pottery data suggest that this deposit probably accumulated in Pueblo III times. The stratigraphic position of this deposit suggests that the material accumulated early in the occupation of this area, because two extramural surfaces (Nonstructures 1.12-N and 1.13-N) , a refuse deposit (Nonstructure 1.14-N), and a constructional fill deposit (Nonstructure 1.11-N) postdate it.
