Structure 212, masonry surface structure

Structure 212 is thought to have been abandoned as a tower when it was remodeled into a kiva (Structure 208) sometime during the occupation of the kiva suite.
No tree-ring dates for this structure. Abutments of the walls of the excavated surface rooms that surround Structure 212 to the north, west, and southwest indicate that Structure 212 was built before those rooms, with the exception of Structure 205, which could have been built before Structure 212. Structure 204 (surface room) was constructed, or at least still used until, sometime after A.D. 1267; Structure 212 was built before that structure. The construction date of Structure 212 is thus unclear.
Structure 212 (tower) was remodeled into a kiva (Structure 208); no data by which to date this event.
Reused as a kiva (Structure 208).
