Roof Description

Two strata were interpreted as mixed roof fall and wall fall. The upper stratum included rotted primary beams, rotted shakes, "adobe-like chunks" (some with wood impressions), gray yellow clay, and red and green pigment (not plaster). The lower stratum included rotted wood and chunks of silt loam that resembled "daub." Although the upper and lower strata are interpreted on the field forms to have possibly represented the collapsed roofs/ceilings of upper and lower stories, respectively, there was no conclusive physical evidence of a second story (such as wall sockets), and so an additional structure was not designated.
